Written by Paulo Ribeiro, Letters to Junior is a collection of letters sent by an experienced professor and researcher to an academic beginner, our dear Junior researcher, with advice and inspiration on how to live ethically and enjoy the process of learning and doing science.
At the end of each letter there is a question to provoke reflection, bringing a practical aspect to the book, which can be used as a trigger for a diary of reflections on the subject.

O autor / The author
Paulo F. Ribeiro recebeu seu Ph.D. da Universidade de Manchester (Reino Unido) em 1985. Foi pesquisador no Centro de Pesquisa Glenn da NASA, Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), Erskine Fellow da Universidade de Canterbury (Nova Zelândia) e pesquisador associado do Instituto Brasileiro de Energia Elétrica (INERGE). Passou 12 anos de sua carreira como Engenheiro de Planejamento de Sistemas de Transmissão na Companhia Hidrelétrica do São Francisco (CHESF). Atualmente é professor titular de Engenharia Elétrica da Universidade Federal de Itajubá. Envolveu-se, com sua esposa, no movimento estudantil na Aliança Bíblica Universitária do Brasil, UCCF (Reino Unido), Intervarsity (EUA) e também do movimento da International Fellowship of Evangelical Students na Holanda. Participou da ABU de Recife entre 1973 e 1975 e foi o primeiro presidente da Aliança Bíblica de Profissionais de Recife. Tem quatro filhas, nove netos e vive em Nárnia.
Paulo F. Ribeiro received his Ph.D. from the University of Manchester (UK) in 1985. He was a researcher at NASA Glenn Research Center, Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), Erskine Fellow at the University of Canterbury (New Zealand) and taught Electrical Engineering at Dordt University, Calvin University, Virginia Tech, Florida State University (all in the USA) and Technical University of Eindhoven (in the Netherlands). He is currently a full professor of Electrical Engineering at the Federal University of Itajubá, Brazil. He also spent 12 years of his career as a Transmission Systems Planning Engineer. Prof. Ribeiro has written and edited 7 books in Electrical Engineering and authored and co-authored more than 350 peer-reviewed papers. He is also an IEEE Life Fellow. Together with his wife, he was and has been involved in the student Christian movement in Brazil, UK, USA, and the Netherlands. He has four daughters, nine grandchildren and lives in Narnia.
